Sandiganbayan seeks explanation on insufficient reports on ex-ERC chair’s dementia
The Sandiganbayan has asked former Energy Regulatory Commission chair Zenaida Ducut and her lawyer to explain why her graft trial should not resume over their failure to comply with the court’s order to submit medical reports on her mental state.
The anti-graft court’s Seventh Division earlier granted Ducut’s motion to suspend proceedings in her graft case in relation to the pork barrel scam because her condition was suggestive of dementia and she was incompetent to stand trial.
It directed her to submit herself to an annual medical examination within the month of June every year before the National Center for Mental Health.
Her counsel is also directed to submit a copy of the resulting medical reports, including the results of all the tests conducted, to the court.
But in a July 25 resolution, the Seventh Division said Ducut had not fully complied with this.
